9th Annual Garden Bowl was Green!

Troy, NY- On January 28, 2006 100 bowlers raised $7,000 for Capital District Community Gardens at Uncle Sam Lanes.

Each year the Garden Bowl receives a tremendous amount of support from individuals, organizations, and companies through the form of in-kind donations, sponsorship, and bowler participation.  This year, teams participated from Bank of America, Community Resource Federal Credit Union, RayBen Enterprises, JLT Services, Council of Community Services, and University at Albany sorority Psi Gamma.

The proceeds from this year’s event will go directly towards the programs of Capital District Community Gardens. CDCG is a private, nonprofit organization that is dedicated to transforming vacant lots into productive garden spaces, working with people to foster self-sufficiency and helping families make their food budget grow through gardening. The organization manages 45 cooperative gardens in Albany, Schenectady and Rensselaer Counties, plants hundreds of city street trees annually, and works with individuals, organizations and municipalities to make our cities greener places to live and work.
