Create Memorable Event for CDCG
TROY
-- Capital District Community Gardens’ third annual farm-to-table
feast, “An Autumn Evening in the Garden”, attracted 160 guests to
the Franklin Plaza Ballroom on Wednesday evening to benefit the
organization’s programs. Patrons sampled the culinary creations of
fifteen leading area chefs, all of which incorporated fresh
ingredients furnished by local farms with whom they were partnered.
Jaime Ortiz, Executive Chef at Angelo’s 677 Prime in Albany called
the event “a great medium for restaurants and farmers to connect and
form relationships.” He adds, “It was great to see so many of my
fellow chefs together in one place exchanging thoughts and ideas
with each other and so many local farmers.”
"This year's Autumn Evening was very special.,” said Justine Denison
of Denison Farms, adding that Franklin Plaza “not only highlighted
the event, but also provided the spotlight to each vendor and farmer
who contributed.."
The
fine fare also included desserts presented by area bakers and
locally produced beverages. Musical entertainment was provided by
the Neil Brown Jazz Trio, and the dramatic fire-dancing of Shilly
Shally Fire Arts was featured several times throughout the evening.
According to CDCG Executive Director Amy Klein, "This event provides
the ideal connections between our Region's top chefs and the farmers
who are producing our most valuable resource – fresh, healthy food.
We are grateful to everyone who participated to make the event such
a rousing success."
An
Autumn Evening in the Garden raised more than $20,000 to support
Capital District Community Gardens’ programs to ensure that
nutritious produce is available to urban communities throughout the
area.
