Help Us Recycle Ink Jet Printer and Toner Cartridges
And help Capital District Community Gardens raise money

Did you know...

  • The average consumer purchases 2-6 printer cartridges per year?
  • More than 85% of used printer cartridges are simply tossed in the trash?
  • Every 2 seconds a printer cartridge is thrown away in the United States alone? That's 1,800 cartridges per minute, 108,000 per hour, almost 3 million per day!
  • Recovering discarded printer cartridges for recycling would prevent more than 570,000 tons of plastics from entering the waste stream?
  • The plastic used in printer cartridges takes more than ten centuries to decompose?
  • If every used cartridge was recovered for re-manufacturing, we could conserve more than 283 million gallons of oil?
If this information concerns you, Capital District Community Gardens has a way you can help.

We have teamed up with Earth Share and the Green Fund Network to recycle ink jet and toner cartridges that will help raise money to support the work of Capital District Community Gardens. For each cartridge that CDCG submits for recycling, we will receive $2.00 for ink jet and $7.00 for each toner cartridge.

And, in addition, the GreenFund Network will donate $0.05 to Earth Share for each and every printer cartridge recycled through their cartridge recycling network, and has pledged a minimum of $60,000.00 to Earth Share during the next three years.

If you would like to recycle your used printer and toner cartridges and help Capital District Community Gardens at the same time, please mail or deliver your cartridges to our offices at 40 River Street, Troy, NY 12180 or call 518-274-8685. A complete list of acceptable cartridges can be found at www.greenfundnetwork.com. Click on "The 4 R's" link for more information.
