about crops that you can plant right now that will increase your
garden’s fertility, lessen erosion, drive out weeds and aerate the
soil.
Freezing
and Drying
·
Learn how to blanch greens and beans in
preparation for freezing, and what fruits and vegetables you can freeze
without pre-cooking. We'll also take a look at dehydrating methods,
and make homemade fruit leather.
Planting
and Tending Garlic
·
Come
learn about one of the most rewarding garden crops, one that you’ll
plant now and harvest next July. Garlic is easy to grow, once you know how!
If supplies allow, we may have garlic seed to give away at this class.
Harvest
Cooking Skills
·
How do you cook the harvest? We’ll
teach the basics on handling fall foods, from squashes and pumpkins to
greens, greens and more greens. We'll cover simple cooking methods
and some innovative recipes to give you ideas and
courage as you face a mountain of food.
Putting
the Garden to Bed
·
The way in which you close your garden in the
fall is as important as the way you start it in spring. Learn about ways to
